“Who are we?”
We are a statewide group of parents and professionals who are engaged in policy advocacy, research, fundraising, education, and social networking. We hold a common belief in the use of relationship-based approaches such as DIR/Floortime to foster and strengthen meaningful relationships for people with special needs and to promote the richest levels of development in our children. Rather than seeking compliance as the main goal with a child, we use the “gleam” in a child’s eye as a guide in our interactions to foster spontaneity, creativity, initiative, purpose, and genuine connections. We have seen that when we respect a child’s or adult’s ideas, intentions, actions, and feelings through warm engagement, development naturally unfolds – with increased capacities to relate, communicate, and think flexibly and independently in a dynamic world.
