CALIFORNIA PARENTS  AND PROFESSIONALS

UNITY

A group of parents and professionals statewide who are engaged in policy; research; fundraising; education; support and advocacy; and social networking.  Common belief in the use of DIR/Floortime to foster and strengthen meaningful relationships for people with special needs and to promote the richest levels of development in our children.  Rather than seeking compliance as the main goal with a child, we use the “gleam” in a child’s eye to foster spontaneity, creativity, initiative, purpose, and genuine connections.  For truly, when we respect a child’s ideas, intentions, actions, and feelings through warm engagement, development naturally unfolds –  with increased capacities to relate, communicate, and think flexibly and independently in a dynamic world.
